Thursday 20th November - Bear Bones Lay Low & Weird Dust

Bear Bones Lay Low (Kraak, BE)  + Weird Dust (Kerm, BE)

Following on from last months show with Antwerp's Dolphins Into The Future + Monopoly Child Star Searchers - it's the turn of another couple of madly talented Belge dwellers to descend into the back room. This time we have solo electronic performances from the members of Brussels based Tav Exotic. Both maintain high levels of psychedelic channeling, concentrated into minimal yet expressive equipment setups. Another good one.

Tuesday 3rd September - SubReel Cinema: Jonas Frederiksen - TOEKOMSTJE - *Album Launch *

Jonas Frederiksen - TOEKOMSTJE - *Album Launch *

Jonas Frederiksen's Toekomstje project is work derived straight from the notebooks of the young casanova, written during 2012 in the streets of medieval Copenhagen.   This event celebrates the launch of his newly released LP where Toekomstje is brought to life on vinyl. As well as a live show, some video and even some poetry from Jonas himself;

Antwerp based Fyoelk (one half of Laser Poodle) will also treat us to a performance of clustered electronics.

There will be copies of the new record available to buy on the night....signed, of course!

Another SubReel treat - this time peeking from behind a summer slurped moon.

Sunday 9th June - SubReel Cinema + JuJu & Jordash Present: The Golem: How He Came Into the World

SubReel Cinema + JuJu & Jordash Present:  The Golem: How He Came Into the World

Juju & Jordash (Golf Channel, Dekmantel) performing their live electronic rendition of the soundtrack for the film The Golem: How He Came Into the World , a 1920 classic silent horror film directed by and starring Paul Wegener.

In the 16th-century the Maharal (Rabbi) of Prague creates a giant creature from clay, called the Golem. Using a Kabbalistic spell, he brings the creature to life in order to protect the Jews of Prague from persecution. Yet the Golem which was supposed to protect the Jews goes out of control and becomes a danger to them all. This film, rooted in German expressionism, is not only one of the first films that deal with the theme of Jewish revenge, but also a precursor to many contemporary Sci-Fi films that raise the question of artificial intelligence and the risk of losing control on our technologies.

The music will consist of prepared piano, industrial soundscapes, analog effects, synthesizer sequences, guitar feedback and psychedelic ambiance.

Tako from Redlight Records / Into The Light / Music From Memory is going to set the scene with his flex on the curious the fairytale and the oddball....

This will be a special night!

Sunday 21st April 2013 - Container, Rene Hell, Laser Poodle, Dominique Manu, Deep Purcell....

CLUB 4 REEL DINNER DANCE
On Sunday 21st April we do something different with a pre-dinner at MKZ (with live music from Parisian No Wave duo LE CLUB DES CHATS), then an early program IN OCCII from two more french acts, DOMINIQUE MANU  and DEEP PURCELL.
 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We then go in to a later program of electronics where we have:

 CONTAINER (US)
Ren Schofield returns to Club 4 Reel after totally rocking it back in July... ooh we are rubbing our legs about this one. Container is direct, straight forward and hits you where it matters. His two releases on Mego sub-label Spectrum Spools, both simply titled "LP", have blown minds all over.

 RENE HELL (US)
Iowa-based electronic composer extraordinaire Jeff Witscher transports cosmic sounds into the future, combining crystalline synth and minimalist classical sound worlds. The brilliant "Porcelain Opera" and "The Terminal Symphony" are both released on Type Records.

 LASER POODLE (NL/BE)
Masterminds of the late night dance floor, Laser Poodle return to OCCII to make you sweat.   This duo based in Amsterdam and Antwerp know how to lay on the synths, bass, beats, snaps, hits, occasional vocals, wobbly vibes, and heavy drops to take you to your next level... tip: pick up their album recently released on stenze quo at the show!

Tuesday 12th March 2013 - COTOPAXI (BE) FETTER, GAMMYANKLE BURA'S PRAYER-BOX INTERLUDES....

SubReel Cinema #1
Making use of the OT301's wonderful cinema room - SubReel Cinema invite a host of our favorite musical acts along to perform in front the screen. An early evening into night-time licking of the moon....

 Cotopaxi (BE)
Mesmerizing and dreamy electronic songs from Little Birth members Hannah (who plays solo as Moemlienn) and Johann (two legs and the fluffier bits of techno duo, Laser Poodle).  If you close your eyes they might sound like Cluster falling in love mid performance - resulting in Dieter Moebius changing sex and reaching for the microphone...

 Fetter (NL)
'Fetter' is the musical moniker for Amsterdam-based artist and musician Jessica Tucker. Lately she's been wondering what it would look and sound like if Blixa Bargeld and Rihanna were to meet up in a synaesthesia dreamland and have a wandering discussion about Amazon warriors, narcissism, horse-grooming, baby-making, and picture-taking. Synthetic yet still breathing, the result of her imagining is a surreal tragicomedic pop musical about your ego, my ego, and the dilemma of a girl who forgot to love horses.

 Gammyankle Bura's Prayer-Box Interludes (NL)
Improvised, mantra infused, heathen loops.

Saturday 26th January - HELM (UK) TROPA MACACA (PT) SLEEK MINK (DK)

The Return Of Club 4 Reel!
Once again it's line-up of diverse and exciting live electronic acts from all over the place..

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HELM is Luke Younger - a sound artist and experimental musician based in London, working with a vast array of revolving instrumentation and abstract sound sources. His last LP, Impossible Symmetry (released in 2012 on Berlin's excellent Pan Records) found it's way to many of the electronic communities 'best of' lists for last year and glowing reviews all over the place. Helm's compositions build a dense aural landscape that touches on musique concrete, uncomfortable sound poetry, noise, and hallucinatory drones. His sound is steered through a melange of fringe territories: glacial drone meditations, reconfigured gamelan clusters, and howling walls of organized feedback, all coalesced in a post-industrial fashion with a commitment to homemade exploratory zeal. For the past ten years, Younger has also performed extensively in Europe and the US with Steven Warwick (Heatsick) as pioneering avant-drone duo Birds of Delay. He also runs the excellent Alter records.

Go here for Wire Magazine's podcast of some music that Helm likes...

TROPA MACACAare the ambient-noise duo of André Abel and Joana Da Conceição and have been going strong from their Portuguese home base since 2005. They've lunged out into the world with releases on established labels such as Qbico and Siltbreeze. Their recently released Ectoplasma on Software Records (the sub-label of mexican summer owned by Onehotrix point never’s dan lopatin) and has been described by dummy magazine as “(...) a lesson in pure sound design as potent as SND or Aaron Dilloway, yet filled with an unctuous listenability, a primordial, glowing slime that’s as addictive yet stately as the best in it's genre". Don't you just love journalists?

SLEEK MINK is the new solo project of Laser Poodle's often hooded jedi, Jonathan Mikkelsen. This is one of the first shows we've heard about from this arpeggiated electrodent ...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Club 4 Reel resident DJs will spin records during the inbetween bit,  then special guest Toby Paul makes his C4Reel debut to 'turn this mutha out' .. ooh ey.
